Pencil boxes, crayons, and glue sticks, Oh my!

After my inspections this morning (possibly my last inspections?), I stopped by Target and Office Depot to hunt for back-to-school specials and Boxes. I found a couple decent specials (12 pack Crayola colored pencils for 10 cents each!) and one box. I was told that I’d do better at 8:00 on a Friday or Saturday morning, so we’ll give that a try. When I got home, though, I found that the wooden pencil holders (one for each student, no matter that K. has no interest in beginning her academic career – I’m getting wise enough to this Mommy business to know that despair and disaster would have ensued if I’d only bought one!) were a big hit. Pencil dropping is a major problem here at _____ Academy. T. has been known to drop ten pencils during the course of a math lesson. Our lovely new pencil holders, with holes for ten pencils, will provide enough pencils for even the clumsiest student (that would be T.!). K. was in special raptures over her new Hello Kitty and Disney Princess spiral notebooks, but exclaimed over each item with a joyful “Oh, Mom, I’ve always wanted a _____!!” We’ve been in “maintenance” mode for school since the beginning of July, with just enough math, writing, and reading to keep T. from getting really rusty, and I don’t expect to really get going on our new school year until September (which always seems like when the school year should start, to me, anyway), but we are now well supplied with all that fun, back-to-school stuff.

I was actually contemplating going to Walmart to go buy some school supplies FOR MYSELF, 'cause really, who doesn't like fresh pencils and crayons?!?

Yes, I know. It seems kind of silly, but 1) I'm scared of trying to shop in a new place 2) I love back to school sales 3) Even if you figure in the cost to move them, crayons for 20 cents instead of $1.87 are too good to pass up.
I'm packing, alright? Nine book boxes so far in the office, and you can't even tell anything is gone yet. How about coming over for a nice visit and tea & brownies this weekend!!! (Evil laugh!!)

Well, you will have to come by and visit after school some day next week (or this week) to see us off!

So does the fish camp at least have a gift shop? A nearby mall he could drop you off at before he begins communing with the fish? Seriously, have a marvelous time!

Is it weird that that picture of fresh, new school supplies makes me childishly happy?

Belinda -- Those are happy colors, aren't they? When I was a kid, I didn't enjoy school at all (I was painfully shy), but I Loved those new pencil boxes, erasers, etc.!

I absolutely *love* shopping for school supplies. Grade school, grad school; pencils, books, rulers, crayons, books, paper, binders, books. I love it all.

I like school & office supplies too. I like the smell of office supply stores & bookstores. I can just goe there & wander around sniffing & it makes me happy.

Go back to packing Melora. Are you hiring movers?

Yes, we are hiring movers, but we've told them that we will be doing the packing, so I suppose I should pack. Ed got a bunch more boxes today, but sturdy little boxes for books seem to be the hardest to come by, and that is what we have most of. I Am going to pack today, but I have two reports to finish, and I'm trying to get my computer neatened up before we move. I've never moved with a computer before, but I don't think we will be able to have the same internet provider in NC, which means that all my mail and addresses need to go to Outlook. I think. What happens to my Comcast e-mail address when I no longer have Comcast? Does anyone know?
