It rained all day yesterday, and all night. We figured this would be a good test of the water proofing we’ve done on the basement, and this morning I went down to see how we’d done. Better, but not great, as it turns out. Water is still leaking in along the wall near the driveway. The slugs are once again looking quite chipper.
Ed went down to the basement with the fan, to try to speed up the drying process, and fell down, making a bloody mess of his knee. Poor guy.
My roses, at least, enjoyed the rain. I hope they figure out that winter is coming, and do
whatever it is that plants are supposed to do at this time of year (like stop growing new leaves and stuff).
Still no sink.

Slugs IN your house?!? Ewww...
Ouch! Oh, I do hope he's feeling better, and that you can get the basement sealed soon. Have you looked at using the marine grade concrete? Zorak looked high and low and finally found THE method of waterproofing a basement. It involves quite a bit of digging around the basement (small chunks at a time, obviously, so as not to overstress the walls). LMK if you need more information. It's supposed to make it the best it can be, AND last just about forever!

Ewww is right. They are in the basement, which is quite gross enough. In their defence, though, they are much cuter and less horrible than the camel crickets.
If we can't waterproof the basement through less drastic means (as in, extending the gutter drainage pipes out a few more feet & sealing around the basement windows), I will probably be checking with you. I understand that fixing the problem from the outside is the Right way to do it, but digging up around the foundation seems like such a HUGE job.
