My cameras are both out of batteries, so you will have to take my word for it that K. and T. both looked darling (or dashing, as the case may be) when we went out last night. K. was a princess, originally a warrior princess armed with a sword and a shield that Ed put hours of work into, but she decided not to burden herself with armaments which might hamper her ability to carry a heavy bucket of candy, so she trick or treated as a sweet princess. T., of course, went as Link (and no one had any idea who he was supposed to be, although a couple guessed an elf). We went over to the nearby town where we shop and go to church, and, through good luck and good advice, went to the neighborhood (you know, the one with sidewalks and enormous, well-kept Victorian houses, where the residents really get into decorating and buy full size candy bars!) for trick or treating. We parked right in front of our church, and went up one side of the street and then back the other, and the kids had their pails half full of candy. By the time we left, you could hardly move for all the little ghosts, cocktail waitresses, and Scream characters, so we thought our timing was pretty good. The kids had a fantastic time – they were so excited about the decorations and the crowds of dressed up kids and the candy, and I’ve never had more fun trick or treating myself!
I wanted to have a picture, but words will have to suffice to describe how beautifully marvelous my new, fully functional Kitchen Sink is! Ed finally agreed to let me start using it yesterday morning, after allowing two days for the caulk and silicone to dry (he’d have liked to give it another couple weeks, just to be sure that everything was dry, but I was getting rather desperate). My heart fills with joy every time I turn the tap and water flows out, and I am thrilled again when I drain the sink and water leaves the sink in an orderly way, through the pipes. I think it is the crowning glory of my kitchen (which still doesn’t have cabinets that are attached to the walls, or decent flooring, but it is becoming possible to see that lovely light at the end of the tunnel).
I finally took the plunge and unpacked my good china today. I’ve been afraid to open the boxes for fear of finding my rarely used but treasured dishes in millions of tiny pieces, but I figured it was time and the deed had to be done, plus, I had a suspicion that K.’s bedspread was at the bottom of one of the boxes. K. has a little guest coming tomorrow, so we thought it would be nice to get her room looking a bit more finished. I was very pleased to find that, aside from a few chips and two cracks, my china is intact. The dining room now looks two boxes less like a warehouse, and I got to cross a line off my “to do” list! (But K.’s room is still a mess.)

Yeah! A sink! Congratulations.
I hope you all are enjoying your first NC Fall, when you can get away from the home reno.

OMGosh!! I'm SO SO SO SO SOOOOOOO happy for you! Who'd have thought that the ability to use indoor plumbing, something as simple as a sink in the kitchen, could make one's heart beat faster, huh? It's a GREAT feeling.
Must get batteries. Must post a photo!! YAY!
