Some Visitors Knock, Others Just Remove the Door

We awoke this morning to the sound of our front door being removed. If this, by chance, has happened to you before, you know that this is one of those sounds that would inspire even the most sluggish to leap from their beds. (The time was a few minutes to 8:00, and we were being slugs after a late return from K.’s first dance class, late dinner, and Zathura.)

The very jolly men removing the door were from the company that installed our windows, and we had told them that we wanted the doors replaced; it’s just that we didn’t know quite when they were coming, so it was a good thing, just a bit startling. Actually, I was so excited about my pretty new doors that I hardly even minded the chilly winds blowing through my house during the installation (the warmest room was the kitchen, at 57 degrees). Bo, however, didn’t find the removal of our front door to be worthy of even a small woof – nice watch dog.

Dan pulled out the old, coffin-like, midnight blue, metal shower from the master bathroom today, in preparation for our installation of a nice, new, white shower. Even the kids are excited about the idea of having a real shower! Even better, the termite man came today (we had called him because evidence of termites in several places) and said that all the termite holes are old, and that the level of moisture, etc., etc. tells him that we do not have termites. Hooray! (The connection between the shower & the termite man is that one of the places he looked was behind the shower – tenuous, I know, but my brain is like that.)

Still loving my sink with real running water!
