Another Post!

When we moved here and decided that the back room would be a "school room," I was so pleased with the idea that my white board would always be up and convenient for lessons. Well, it does get used occasionally for lessons, but mostly it is for ART! Katie has been on a drawing kick. She did portraits of the whole family on the white board (if the board were Bigger, we could all have been pictured together!).
In case you can't quite tell, the Picture Katie is holding a pen too.

This one is of Travis, but there is also a "Katie" label on the side (not entirely legible) and an arrow pointing to... Katie. Just in case we forget.

After church today we gathered sticks and made a bonfire. We have had a Lot of wind lately, and our yard was covered in sticks and branches. The pile was over six feet tall, and it went up with a Whoosh! Our neighbor, the fire chief, stopped by to admire the blaze (in a neighborly way, though he may have had some professional interest, since he mentioned that he had just come back from dealing with a barn fire), and pointed out that, even though we have had quite a bit of rain lately, the branches and brush are very dry because of all the wind we've also had. Anyway, our yard looks better, and this time we Didn't melt any of the siding on our garage. Pretty good, eh?

If you are inclined to pray, we would really appreciate your prayers on behalf of Ed's mom. She had a heart attack last night, and is now in the hospital. She is doing "okay," but her health has been very poor for the last few years, and hospitals are scary places, and I'm kind of worried. His dad could use some prayers too, as he sounded wiped out when I talked with him this afternoon. We've been planning to visit them this fall, and they don't seem at all eager for us to rush down (they do like us, but there is funny family stuff involved), but I would feel Awful if it turns out that we Should have rushed down. Anyway...

I love Katie's pictures! I am always in awe of kids who can draw because none of mine can! We have no artistic ability here - zero, zilch, nada. Little Anna is our only hope! :)

I will send up some prayers for Ed's mom and dad. That's a scary place to be.
