What does a cat with allergies look like? I know what a kid with allergies looks like --bloodshot eyes with purple circles under them, and a pale, splotchy face. Cats, apparently, just get mopey and sneeze a lot. Harry was sneezing a Lot last week, and by last Saturday he was spending most of his time lying around and looking woeful. But he spends most of his time lying around anyway, so we weren't sure what to think. Just in case, though, Ed took him in to see the vet on Tuesday. (Ed thought it might be "Cat Flu," which is apparently highly contagious and icky.) The vet said it looked like allergies to him, and suggested Benadryl. Phew! At least we didn't have to agonize over whether or not to spend the big bucks on Kitty Claritin.
Today was the last day of my parents' visit. We went off to Stone Mountain for one last hike in the morning. (Travis stayed home for some bonding time with Ed. I believe they bonded over t.v.) We didn't find the trail my dad wanted to take, but we did find a very pretty waterfall we hadn't seen before, and still got back home in time to make the chicken stew for a sustaining sort of late lunch (Their flight back to Maine doesn't leave Charlotte until 8:00 p.m. They are going to have a Very Long Night.).
Katie got a couple more chapters of Ramona.
And then they were off, on their way back to snow country.

Last Day of Spring Break
Even though today is Officially the last day of our Spring Break, I don't expect we will get much done tomorrow. We have noon time dentist appointments for both kids. What fun!

We have one cat taking benedryl right now, too. And one dog who might follow--I have to call the vet and see if it's safe for canines. Especially old ones on aspirin for arthritis.
As for the cat, he's a good sport about taking his meds. As far as his allergies go, I feel like turn-about is fair play. After all, he's the one shedding and leaving hair all over the house, which makes me sneeze!
Enjoy the end of your break.
Just catching up on all the posts I've been missing. Stone Mountain is wonderful. I really love all of your pictures. They really capture the moment. It looks like you had a wonderful visit with your parents. Where are they in Maine? We once visited Jackman with the kids for an awesome vacation in a dry cabin on the lake. Beautiful country!
I am so glad you had such a good visit with your parents! Has anyone ever told you that you look like your dad? ;)
