Friday was gorgeous, so our hs book group met at the park. The kids discussed Caddie Woodlawn (which we loved!) and then we ate lunch and played. Katie waded in the creek and made the Mother of All Mudballs. Her mudball really was quite the work of art, with a shiny gravel coating on the outside. She looked like a mudball herself by the time we took her home. The older kids decided to have a dance contest, of all things. They organized themselves and had quite a good time. Travis's first dance was a sort of Irish jig with cartwheels thrown in (he doesn't jig or cartwheel very well, but I gave him points for enthusiasm), and his second performance was a song And dance with another boy. As near as I could understand, they were singing,
but I'm being chased by the FBI.
All I wanted was a chicken wing,
and a piece of chocolate pie."
As usual, I couldn't begin to explain
Anyway, the picture depicts the FBI having captured the chicken wing loving singer.
Saturday was cloudy, but I got the beautiful dwarf weeping cherry that Ed gave me for our anniversary planted. (If the weather is sunny tomorrow I'll take a picture -- it doesn't look so impressive now, but it is really going to be nice once it fills out!)
I also spent a fair amount of time preparing to teach Sunday School. Actually, what I spent time doing was looking for a fun cut&paste project for the kids on the stoning of Stephen. In case you are curious, I did Not succeed in finding one. I did finally come up with what I thought was a fairly decent lesson, though, only to find this morning that I wasn't scheduled to teach until next week. Sigh. On the bright side, though, there are going to be a couple baptisms next week, so Sunday School will be cancelled when I actually Was supposed to teach and I don't have to come up with another lesson.
Finally, here is the very pretty loaf of bread I baked today to go with dinner. Katie gorged on it.

Your Challah looks beautiful!
Unfortunately, this past Shabbat we were in the no-man's-land between ordinary time and Pesach, so our Challah's were moved to the freezer in the garage and sold to a gentile. We will be challah-less next Friday, too, as it will still be Passover.
So I'll be back. Your picture is eye-candy this week!
I hope it tasted as good as it looks.
The bread is beautiful. I have not made bread since we got back from the beach and the girls were asking when I was going to make some more.
Peace
Amy
Elisheva,
Thank you! It was as tasty as it was pretty (and I normally just let my bread bake in the machine, so it Doesn't come out very pretty). I didn't realize you were in such a long Challah-less season, but I hope you are having a good Passover!
Amy,
Thanks! If it weren't for my machine, I'd Never get around to making bread. Your vacation looked like Such fun!
Wow! That bread looks great! My kids just came in and drooled over it and asked me why I don't make bread for them.
See what you've started? ;)
