What have I been doing? Not much, but it keeps taking me way too long.
Tuesday night, Ed dropped Katie and me off at her t-ball game and went to drop Travis at karate and then to listen to the husband of a presidential candidate who was speaking in town. The candidate's husband was late, and, sweetly, Ed decided not to wait, but to pick up his family from karate & the freezing cold ball field and come home. I'm so grateful he has his priorities straight!
I covered my tomatoes on Tuesday night and they didn't freeze. Hooray!
Wednesday, Katie and I did Prairie Girls. They made some Very Good bread, which Katie ate even though it had some whole wheat flour and 7 grain cereal in it. Miracles Do happen! Ed and Travis were playing cards when we got home. They hadn't finished all the school work I'd left, but they had some good "man to man" bonding time.
Thursday we went to an allergist in Winston for Katie. His insightful diagnosis? "Boy, her eyes and nose are a real mess!" Yup. In his professional opinion, her allergies are Really bad. Wow. We hadn't noticed.
He did want to do some skin tests, but we hadn't gotten the memo that she needed to stop Clarinex a week before her appointment (actually, we Did get it, but on the day before the appointment), so they couldn't. So we get to drive back next week for a skin test. And then, undoubtedly, back in another few weeks for results and, possibly, for some useful information or prescription. At least it is a pretty drive!
After the allergist we stopped by Barnes & Noble (gotta take advantage of these rare trips to the Big City!). We split two cookies, and My Goodness they were Tasty! Outrageously expensive, of course, but Really good. Then we all looked at books happily until Katie disappeared and management had to lock down the store while we panicked. Katie turned up, cheerful and unharmed, and then ran off Again before we could make an embarrassed exit. We caught her again, made our small purchase, and slunk out. (We didn't require help from the staff to find her the second time, but I know they saw us looking for her again, and you just Know what they were thinking!)
Because we are Very Slow Learners, we stopped once more, this time at PetsMart. The kids were completely Wowed by all the amazing paraphernalia that you could buy for animals. And the Hamsters! It was pretty much as exciting as Disney World, and considerably cheaper, even after I bought what I went in after -- the Furminator. I got the smallest version, which is supposed to work on cats Or dogs. So far I've used it on Harry a little (he was a little suspicious), but I plan to Furminate Bo after I bathe him this weekend. If the video is accurate, I should be able to stuff a mattress. (I suppose it would be a really smelly mattress, but it would be soft!)

Poor Katie! I can't imagine how miserable she must be.
When you said Ed was waiting to listen to the husband of a presidential candidate speak, I thought for a minute, "Hmmm... I wonder which one that was?" Doh! Total mommy brain! :)
