Not a Movie Review

We finished watching National Treasure II tonight and Travis said to me, "You should do a blog post about today because it was such a great day!"
"What was so great about it?"
"Well.... We did school, and then we ate..... something. And then we watched this movie!"

That about sums it up, too. Travis says I should write a review of National Treasure II (it has some other name, but I didn't pay attention). It was the same sort of thing as the first one, only it made less sense. But it was action-y, and there was no swearing or nudity or bloodshed. Our last two movies were Nicholas Nickleby and Jane Eyre, and Ed asked for an action movie set in modern times (poor fellow -- he gets a little tired of period dramas!), so this fit the bill nicely. If Travis weren't writing his next dramatic retelling of "The Little Red Hen" tomorrow, a movie review would be a great writing assignment for him.

In other news, I got contact lenses again on Tuesday. I've been wearing glasses for the last I-can't-remember-how-many years as an economy measure. Given the cost of food and gas, this probably isn't the time for self-indulgence, but my glasses slipped down my nose while I was gardening and my hands were coated in mud just One too many times. (Ed encouraged me in this luxury. He has been called to assist me more than once when I was making meatloaf and my glasses slipped and my hands were coated in raw beef and eggs. Raw meat really grosses Ed out!) So now I have contacts again, and I find that I need Reading Glasses. Apparently glasses don't correct so much, and I was sliding by when what I really need is Bi-focals. Ouch!
The eye doctor suggested bi-focal contacts, but that just sounded like Reckless Extravagance. Now I'm thinking he might have had a point, but I'll consider it again in another year or so. Katie says I look just awful without my glasses on, but that she loves me anyway. Isn't she the best?

Welcome to the world of the old and infirm. I got my first bifocals four years ago. They help.
But at 48 going on 25, I am the youngest woman ever to need them! :)

I'm glad Travis enjoyed the movie. Madeline saw it at the theater with her Grandma. Netflix is delivering it to the new house, so it will be waiting for us when we arrive. The other kids will be happily surprised, I think.

Awww... Katie is so sweet! :)

I also switch off between contacts and glasses depending on our available funds. I don't like glasses in the summer, mostly because of the sweat factor - I hate it when they slide down my nose.

I always love going back to contacts after wearing my glasses for a while!
