Still Here!

The computer is still running! Microsoft Word won't run anymore, insisting that I need to reinstall it for some reason, and of course stupid Dell didn't send any disks that say "Microsoft Word" when they sent the computer. (Just for kicks, I tried all the Dell installation disks in my big plastic box of computer stuff, but none of them worked. On the plus side, the computer is still working despite my having done this!) But who needs Microsoft Word when I have Open Office? Except that Open Office doesn't have the cute little animated characters who pop up and ask me if I need help with writing a letter. Not that I ever Did want their help, but they were cute.

I have now made a dinner with both of the two cookbooks I was given for Christmas, and both dinners were well received! Which is to say, everyone except Katie ate happily! And Katie is so picky that I hardly even consider whether she might like what I am planning for dinner because that would limit my options to pizza, oven fried or boiled chicken, and spaghetti. Well, and also fancy stuff like beef brisket, roast turkey, and ham, and I suppose she'd also happily eat sirloin or filet mignon, but none of these show up often on our menus. Anyway, I made a Very Simple casserole called "More" the other day from a cookbook my parents gave me which was recommended by Amy at My Foil Hat, and Travis loved it. And tonight I made creamed chicken from More with Less Cookbook, which Ed and the kids gave me, and Travis and Ed liked that too. I know these aren't exactly fancy new recipes, but they are a (modest) change from the usual dishes in our rotation, and the truth is that I love looking through cookbooks, and anything that makes fixing dinner every night less boring is a great thing! One Bite Won't Kill You, especially, is just a funny read, and mine is bristling with Post-Its marking the many other recipes that I am looking forward to trying.

Hi! I wanted to "delurk" to say that I also love that cookbook, One Bite Won't Kill Ya! My favorite recipe is Roast Chicken Teriyaki- and I also love the Blueberry-Raspberry Muffins. I will have to try "More" next!

Ohhh- I love new cookbooks! I have the More with Less too and I really like it.

Have you thought about a download of Word off the internet? I'm not sure what it would cost but if you get desperate, it might be the place to go.
