Visit with an old friend, and a rant

Had a lovely visit today with an old friend (that is to say, its an old friendship, not an old friend). I kept half an eye on the kids while we had cookies and tea, and chatted about her work in the library of a charter high school, various religions, and our possible move. It is not often that I get a chance for a nice long conversation with anyone but Ed, and Ed and I pretty much know each other's views on most topics already (although he does still floor me occasionally!). I even got to rant about the movie "Bewitched," which Ed rented recently. Not only was the movie dumb, but the "Samantha" character, played by Nicole Kidman, used her powers throughout the movie to do things like forging credit cards and forcing people to act completely against their will. In Harry Potter's universe, she'd have been sent to Azkaban for using the Imperious Curse, but, in this movie, there were no negative consequences to using magic to force obedience. Now here is a movie for the "anti-magic" people to get riled about!

On a lighter and less cranky note, the picture is of my darling husband and daughter playing with new Christmas dolls. What a good daddy!
