Thank Goodness That Learner's Permit is Still Years Away!

Today was beautiful again – low 70’s, blue skies, and a lovely breeze. T. was, while not exactly on fire with his love for learning, less reluctant to do his school work than he has been often of late, and K. was, as usual, charming. The nice lady with eight children who we met at the hs meeting yesterday stopped by this morning for a brief visit and to drop off a couple boxes of really pretty dresses and sweaters for K. I’m getting to the point where I’m hardly even embarrassed anymore by new acquaintances walking through my disaster of a house – how long do you think I can milk this “just moved” thing for?

Part of T.’s willingness to do his schoolwork was due to our promise that The Great Race could take place when he finished. He and K. have been planning this race ever since we got the lawn tractor, and today was the day. T. apparently was under the impression that the tractor, being so much larger, would easily beat K.’s battery powered three wheeler. Actually, if he knew how to adjust the speed he might have had a chance, but, as my pictures show, allowing him to drive at a faster speed would have been very ill advised. He was doing fine as long as he was paying attention, but my boy is highly distractable. Can you guess who his favorite character is in The Wind in the Willows? Poop-poop! Crash!

ROFL! Oh, my. They do outgrow this by the time they can drive on something other than grass, right? RIGHT?

Too cute.

I certainly hope he will become a more attentive driver with age, especially given the curvy, hilly roads around here! In addition to being very distractable, the poor kid inherited his parents' klutziness, so I really don't even want to think about real driving!
