I Love Sundays!

We squeaked into church during the first hymn (pant, pant), but the rest of the day has been lovely and relaxing. There was chit chat and carrot cake after church, then the obligatory trip to Lowes (lumber for the counter, a cart to pull heavy stuff around in, and another look at the little samples of ugly industrial tile that we could special order which might be less ugly than the colors they have in stock). After a very late lunch, we settled into some serious puttering. Around 4:00, our new friends, Ben and Helen and their gang, stopped by to drop off some coupons for the Winston fair (I think we really will go next week) and to play. Ben was one of the few people in NC who hadn’t yet seen the house, so we gave him the tour and got to show off our nearly finished living room (walls are painted, curtains are up, put we still need to put away some boxes and maybe put up a mantle before it is ready to be photographed for the blog). Ben does some sort of fancy radiology stuff, and he put in a call to the pain specialist’s office for Ed and used his “insider” pull, and now my poor hubby has been able to make an appointment. Now that is a fine act of kindness! The kids had fun running around, but now they are gone and it is time for me to make something for supper. I took a picture of K. sitting on the front steps of the soon-to-be repaired porch with my pretty new chrysanthemums (don’t they just sing “fall?”). The smudges on her face are chocolate ice cream, not dirt (so she isn’t grubby, just extra sweet!).

She is very sweet! You ought to make that picture into a sepia, print it out as a 5x7 and hang it by the mantle. That would be precious!

I'm so glad Ed has insider friends now! Yay!! Here's to finding a wonderful doc.

Did Wayne show?

Wayne Did show!! We think he is a tad pricey, but he did very nice work on the porch, and he is supposed to come back Monday to put in our new front door (which is a tricky one, since the wood has rotted out all around the old frame).
