Poor K. woke up with a raging fever and throwing up this morning. She spent most of the day lying on the couch, being pitiful. In fact, she was so pitiful that T. could hardly concentrate on his school work all day for feeling sorry for her (it couldn’t have been that he wanted to watch cartoons with her). She is still hot this evening, but the throwing up seems to have stopped.
Enough about my poor sick little lamb – guess what the postman brought me today? That’s right, a big box of the most gorgeous pots and pans you’ve ever seen, compliments of my loving mommy and daddy! I now have a complete, matched set of really good cookware, everything I need (actual food aside) to create fabulous meals for my appreciative family! (And yes, I do remember that my kids eat nothing but noodles, but people can change!) Add the new cookware to the baking book Mom gave me for my birthday and the set of 100 cookie cutters that the children’s godmother just sent, and you can see why I Really Need my kitchen to be finished Soon. I have soups and stir fries, buckles and crumbles, and mountains of frosted cookies to make, and all I need are some cabinets with countertops and space to play. Ed says another week, so maybe it won’t be too much longer. My new floor samples came in today, and one out of the four isn’t bad. It is quite neutral, without a lot of spottiness, and it goes with the colors in the kitchen and the bathroom (it will go in both rooms). I’m still not wild about the idea of a floor that needs to be waxed, but it isn’t awful.
*The new sample is the one on the bottom right. The other two are the original choices, and are shown for the purpose of showing how much less ugly the new piece is.

It doesn't look too bad.
Oh, poor little K. I don't know about you, but I try to foster any inkling of the others showing empathy for one of the siblings. Even if it is rooted in cartoons. Some days, I just take what I can get. ;-) I really hope she's feeling much better tomorrow. {{hugs}}
WOW, oh WOW, you are Soooo stylin' in the kitchen! Now you need a really cool apron, and let T. make super cool cooking videos, featuring "Chef Mom"!! (Wouldn't that be fun?) Just look at all those sparkly pots... *mmmmm*

Oh, and you're right - the newest sample is nicer. It looks a little rose-colored, is it? I like it the best so far. :-)
Cece, Dy, and Dhugs,
Thanks for the positive thoughts on the floor tile! It isn't what I would have picked, left to my own devices, but sometimes one must compromise to achieve domestic bliss, and the new color seems tolerable. It isn't as rosy as it looks in the picture, more of a taupe, but there is a Hint of rose.
And yes, the kids Really did well in the grandparents and godmother dept.!
That tile is defintiely better than the others. It'll look great but what will be best about it, will be the feeling that kitchen generates - which doesn't come in a pot of paint or a sample.
I hate it when Blogger does that
I think (hope!) it will be a warm, friendly kitchen (I'm a little iffy on the shelves Ed is currently putting up, but more on that later).
I didn't know you could delete comments you made! I've had a couple occasions when I'd have liked to!
