A "Learny" Day

Today was another pretty day. Not warm by any stretch of the imagination (a Floridian imagination, that is), but not dreadful. We played outside for a while, and I admired the pink bud looking things on our maple trees. Between those buds and the little daffodil (?) that popped up in the front yard, I am starting to believe that spring might actually come someday.

School went fairly well today. K. did a little of her preschool book and was obviously pleased with herself, since she told me, "I have a little head, but a very big brain!" T. and I tackled the thesaurus again, as directed by "Classical Writing, Beginning Poetry," and did much better than we did yesterday, when I embarrassed myself by being unable to remember how to find antonyms. T. found synonyms and antonyms for all his words, and was touchingly proud of his accomplishment. Myrtle, at "Drat These Greeks," recommended a Tom Lehrer song on "New Math" in her latest entry, and, after we found it, the kids watched it three times. Base eight makes my head spin -- was he serious about that? -- but the jaunty tune and the two missing fingers made the kids laugh.

** This was supposed to be Tuesday's post, but YouTube gave me trouble. I am linking to the Tom Lehrer video (I think it will be the next post up), but I didn't want to post it without a thank you to Myrtle. Thanks, Myrtle!
