Birthdays All 'Round

My parents arrived a day early on Wednesday night, scaring the bejeebers out of poor T., who heard them opening the doors (which they had knocked on for a while, but we hadn't heard -- got to get going on that doorbell project!) and dashed into the the dining room, where we were sitting, gasping, "Burglars are coming into the house! Burglars!" The poor things (my parents) were exhausted, since they had been driving for thirteen hours. The long drive hadn't been part of their original plan, but my mother had come down with something during the night which had made her sick as a dog, and my dad's response was to skip stopping at a hotel and keep driving (my mom says it was because she wasn't being good company, and my dad claims he thought she was asleep). Anyway, my mom was better by Thursday morning, and we got an extra day with them.

Ed's birthday was yesterday, and he enjoyed being the birthday boy, and today we worked on preparations for K.'s birthday party, which will be tomorrow. My poor dad came down with the bug and has been in bed all day, so we tried to keep the racket to a minimum, but my mom and I cleaned the house up and gotten most of the prep stuff done. K. requested a three layer Dora cake, so my mom obliged with a very grand cake which K. says is the "best cake I've ever seen!" I think tomorrow will be fun.

dhugs, Andie, and Dy -- Thanks! The cake was tasty -- this year K. didn't ask for fondant "frosting," which was pretty but revolting to eat.
