Do Your Math or Walk the Plank, Kiddo!

In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I've spent a fair portion of the day impersonating the Dread Tyrant Mommy. T. was out of bed bright and early this morning, and most of our work was finished by 2:00. A good day, eh? But the small amount left, which he was supposed to do independently, he stretched out to fill the next five hours. If I were a Real pirate, I'd have chained him to the chair, maybe given him a little flogging to get his attention, and he'd have finished his work in less than an hour. Arrrggg! Do you suppose keelhauling or walking the plank might be useful educational motivators?
