Saturday Sillies

What did the Three Wise Men do for day jobs?

They were fire fighters! (Because they came from "afar," you know! This only works if the person telling the joke has a southern accent, which I don't, but the person who told it last night at our church's Advent party did. I love bad jokes!)

Also from the Advent party, did you know that people hunt mistletoe, with guns? A friend told us that one of his neighbors showed up at his door with a gun, asking if he wanted some mistletoe. Under the circumstances, of course, he certainly did want mistletoe, but he was surprised when the neighbor then proceeded to show him how the stuff is gathered around here, by spotting it up high in a tree and shooting it down. The mind boggles.

Ed ate too much last night and swore that he was off sweets for life. I spent today baking, though, and his resolve proved to be very short lived. I plan to get all the holiday baking finished up and packed tomorrow, and out in the mail on Monday. If I don't, Ed is likely to wind up diabetic for Christmas.

Ed is not the only one! I went to my dh's work holiday party on Saturday night. The chinese meatballs were delish' and I had some of my own kugel--I just love my own cooking--along with a few other 'real food' items. I then hit the dessert table. Oy vey is mir! Chessman cookies, pumpkin pie, fruit-filled cookies, fudge, brownies...I had to sample quite a few items just so I could compliment the cook.

I think I'd better swear off sweets for the rest of the year!

ROFLOL! I never thought of that. Instead, I hoisted my young child on my shoulders, with repeated admonitions not to eat it b/c it will kill you, and we're in the middle of the forest and can't get to the ER in time. Before having kids, I'd beg a willing suitor to scale some bough and bring me a sprig. Never thought to warn them not to eat the stuff, though. Funny how our perspectives change, isn't it?

I don't know. I kind of like the idea of shooting it down.

LOVe the picture - as usual. *sigh* I need a new camera.

LOL I definitely have the accent for the Wise Men joke. It made me laugh, but Ernie cringed when I told it to him. :)
