We've had some coldish, rainy days recently, but we are cozy in our school room with our warm, crackly fireplace! It is quite an amazing thing! We press a button, and Hey Presto!, we have a lovely, comforting fire. When we are warm enough, we just press again, and the fire is gone. If this same principle could be applied to meals, wouldn't that be marvelous?
Katie's birthday party is this Saturday, and we have starting to think it might be getting on to time to prepare. I have thought about a cake I might make, and we have considered lunch type foods we might serve. The children, being more sensible, have started to actually make the props for some party games.
Travis made this psychotic looking cat face for a bean bag toss (it is taped to the front of our non-functional fireplace. I guess it would be even more exciting taped in front of the working one, but we don't have that many bean bags. Actually, I'm not sure we have any bean bags. Guess I should look into that.)

Katie drew this lovely cat (with some dachshund in his background) for "Pin the tail on the kitty."

LOL! I love your "press a button, get a meal" idea! When you get it to market, let me know, I'll be your first customer! ;)
Good luck with the birthday party planning. I would offer advice or ideas, but I'm not sure I'm the person for that. I'm the one who waits too long with the invitations and then rounds everyone up with a phone call, "Hey, you doing anything tomorrow?" ;)
Have fun!
I am so glad you are on the mend. We all seem to be in various stages of recovery, but although functional enough, I am still coughing occasionally, and dragged out at the end of the day.
Your fireplace looks so cozy and inviting. This weekend out furnace went out and we had ours on. It's a good thing.
