Poor Katie was sick Thursday night and all day Friday. So.....
we got her a kitten!
Just kidding. Well, not about Getting the kitten, but it wasn't because Katie was sick. Imagine how many cats we'd have if we did that!
Actually, our friends who have been watching the kids while we take the foster care class had a cat with a litter of kittens. Travis and Katie have been admiring and adoring the kittens every Thursday night and begging to be allowed to bring one home. I am hoping that having a little feline (and feminine) companionship will make Harry less eager to dash out the door every time someone opens it. (And if Social Services decides that we don't have the right stuff to be foster parents, at least we will still get a baby out of all those classes!) Her name is Emma.
Today Katie was recovered and we took the kids to Stone Mountain. Ed and I told them that it was absurdly cold for swimming in a stream, but they assured us that we just thought that because we are Old.
After they jumped in, they were willing to allow that perhaps we Might have been right, this time. It was cold. But they had a very good time anyway, and they weren't too chilled to eat ice cream afterwards.
I got the lawn mowed & partly weed whacked today. My rose bushes are Covered in buds, and I can hardly wait til they are covered in flowers. If they Hurry, they might bloom before the Japanese Beetles show up and devour everything.
Harry and Bo are completely fascinated by Emma. They just watch every move she makes. And they really want to give her a thorough sniffing. She was pretty fierce in the beginning, puffing up to three times her normal size (still very small) and giving terrible (though tiny) yeowls. She is warming up to them, though. She now lets them follow her around and admire her without much hissing.
They really are good boys.

Ooh! I love kittens! And I like our grown cats, too.
Cool to see that you are going to the river again! I love those pictures.
Here it's still long sleeves until afternoon!
Oh my gosh she is adorable! I love the way Bo is looking at her in that one picture.
Hopefully they'll remain friends!
