It's the Heat!

It is hot. Drearily, tiresomely hot. Apparently last year, when it was pleasantly cool through most of July, was an aberration. As is the drought, of course, which is saving us from having a very damp basement. If we were running a water park or an ice cream stand, I suppose that the unrelenting heat would have an positive aspect too. But we're not.
This morning, Katie's riding teacher called and rescheduled Katie's 9:30 lesson to 5:00. At the time this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to get in a good day of school work. What with bookgroup/picnic at the park/allergy shots on Mondays, riding lessons on Tuesdays, Prairie Girls on Wednesdays, and library summer programs on Thursdays, my ambitious summer schedule for the children's' educations has been going rather patchily. So today we were going to accomplish Everything on the List. Turns out, though, that it is the Heat rather than our busy schedule that has been the trouble. At least I still have an excuse!
