The Perils of Studying History

Travis came along again today to Prairie Girls. Our hosts have many acres, and the boys usually can run around in the woods for a few hours without getting into much trouble. Today, however, Travis managed to fall into the pond. Since the weather was in the mid-40's, I was dismayed to find him hosing himself off outside the cabin (because he fell into a Really Mucky part of the pond and was completely coated in ooze). I asked him how he happened to fall in. Turns out that Ruby, the black lab, caught a mole. The mole did not survive being caught, and the boys, naturally, decided to hold a funeral. We have been studying the ancient Egyptians, so Travis thought the mole would probably like to be sent off to his reward in a funeral boat. They built a lovely (I'm told) Lego barge, installed the mole, and pushed him off from shore. Travis was not satisfied with the boat's speedy progress toward the center of the pond, so he got a long stick and gave it a push. He pushed a little too far out, slipped, and ended up in the pond. And there I was afraid he wasn't taking his history reading seriously.

Awwwwww.......you're doing a fine job there with that boy! LOL! As I have said before, Jack and Travis would be great friends!
