Can He Fix It? Yes He Can!

Last night I reached under the kitchen sink for the soap, and noticed that the soap seemed to be sitting in a puddle. Upon further investigation, more dampness was found, and Removal of All Items from the cabinet unearthed a Stagnant Pond under the garbage disposal. The children and I retired to the bedroom for stories and snuggles, while the Man of the House, armed with his trusty Shop Vac, was left to deal with the smelly sludge. (Sometimes it is very good to be the Reading Parent.)
This morning, Ed visited Home Depot and purchased a new disposal. My friend Diane came at 10:00, for a long planned chat and coffee cake. She got to enjoy the sight of all my cabinet contents spread over the counter and Ed's legs sticking out of under the sink. Being the generous soul that she is, she pretended not to hear the odd muttered comment coming from under the sink, and not to notice the clutter. We had a very nice visit, even though the cake was a bit dry and the children were very excited to see their godmother and chattered on quite a bit.
The rest of the day has been spent in blissful sloth, and we are now going to watch "Because of Winn Dixie."
