Counting Nails and Sheets of Drywall

K. has finally started showing some interest in numbers and letters. This is a relief, since I was a little afraid that her determination to remain "the baby" would trump any desire to read stories or add up her accumulating allowance money. She likes copying words, occasionally chimes in during T.'s Latin lessons, and enjoys a little addition practice. When T. was starting to add and subtract, we used M&M's, to make math fun. With K., though, M&M math problems, whether addition or subtraction, would always come out to zero, so we are sticking to non-food manipulatives. Nails work very nicely, and, in our household, are always conveniently at hand.

We sacked out in front of the t.v. tonight. There was nothing on but that dumb "Funniest Videos" show on, but even that is pretty fun when I'm snuggled on the couch with my sweeties, who find piano playing dogs and klutzy people falling off stages to be laugh-out-loud hilarious.
