K. has finally started showing some interest in
numbers and letters. This is a relief, since I was a little afraid that her determination to remain "the baby" would trump any desire to read stories or add up her accumulating allowance money. She likes copying words, occasionally chimes in during T.'s Latin lessons, and enjoys a little addition practice. When T. was starting to add and subtract, we used M&M's, to make math fun. With K., though, M&M math problems, whether addition or subtraction, would always come out to zero, so we are sticking to non-food manipulatives. Nails work very nicely, and, in our household, are always conveniently at hand.
