One Plus One is Fun

One of my favorite things about homeschooling is that it gives the kids more than the usual opportunities to help each other learn. T. takes more interest in his history lessons when his little sister has listened to the week's chapter of Story of the World and is competing to give answers to the review questions. He also enjoys Latin more when he is showing off his vocabulary for K. Best of all, though, is being able to coach his sister in math. Usually it is simple (very simple) addition and subtraction problems, but, earlier this week, he decided that she should be a "math genius" and jump right into multiplication (and, yes, I'm sure that there are plenty of precocious little four year olds who have mastered their times tables before starting kindergarten, but no one living under our roof is that clever). She did get the zero times and one times pretty quickly, but beyond that she calmly explained, "That's too hard for me."

It isn't all fun, but mostly things are pretty good!

I am including a picture from today's math lesson, as well as the pictures from earlier in the week so that you can see what we did for fun last night. Can you guess? Yup, a haircut for my boy, who was beginning to look quite a lot like Cousin It.
