It rained all day, and I accomplished very little. The little dogwood tree (really a small stick in a pot, with a big label) we bought last night at Lowes had to sit unplanted, since all my gardening books say Not to dig in the soil when it is very wet. (Which I don't understand, since you are supposed to water and make the soil very wet as soon as you put the plant in the hole.) T. wasn't feeling very well (or very sick, either), so we did only a little school. I did send in my Wayside Gardens order, all roses, after spending an absurd lot of time (according to Ed) mulling over all the various choices. Ed likes the idea of a gorgeous flower border, but he doesn't understand how I can spend so long debating over which pink climber would be best, since he would just pick the first pretty one he saw, without reading the copy about disease resistance and blooming seasons, and be done with it. We did splurge and watch two episodes of Middlemarch tonight, which, happily, is a hit with everyone.
