I'm Probably Not Cut Out to Be a Farmer

I have recently learned why people who dig things traditionally wear boots. I've been busily digging up my front yard to make a nice big perennial bed, and my shovel pushing foot is worn out. Today, I also learned that one should wear gloves while weed whacking if one doesn't want blisters, that carrying buckets of water to newly planted trees because the hose won't reach is a drag, and that there is a valid reason our neighbor doesn't fertilize his grass. Our yard is looking pretty good, but I'm not.

Oh my goodness,

Our back yard is completely grown up. When we first moved in we had a beautifully manicured lawn...then we got a dog. The dog is no longer with us but the weeds are so high that a goat would make a good pet right now.

Cece,
You're right. The bad part is when I'm Done working and realize how much my decrepit old body is aching. And again the next morning. But I really do enjoy messing around in the yard!

Myrtle,
Mowing & trimming our three-quarter acre Did give me a reason to be grateful that we weren't able to buy More land (and I only trimmed at the front). We had a beautifully manicured lawn in Florida, but that was less than a quarter acre. A goat would be much more practical than a dog, but they have those evil yellow eyes!

That is the idea. When are you going to come admire it in person?

Please post pictures of the pay off for all of your hard work. I need inspiration :)

Yay for you! You're doing so much, and it'll one day become a sickness that you enjoy, and look forward to. I don't get it, but that seems to be how it works.

Gloves, boots, and a good B complex supplement (for you, not the plants) are a must!

Emily & Dy,
I Will post a picture of the bed in a couple weeks, when it is all dug out & has some more plants in it. I can hardly wait! I have added B vitamins to the shopping list, and boots to my mental "when the time is right" list.
