It's A Boy!

Harry had his trip to the vet today. His leg is broken, but the vet said it appears to have been broken for at least a couple weeks, and that it will heal. According to the vet, Harry has all his grown-up teeth, and is probably between six and eleven months old. The vet also said he must have been lost for quite a while, to get as matted and starved as he was, but that he seems basically healthy and just needs food and care (and some pest control). His appointment for "tutoring" isn't 'til the middle of next month, to allow him time to heal up and get fatter. Harry says he isn't in a hurry.

My book discussion group met up at a barbecue place in Virginia tonight. I don't think I have gone out for dinner without the kids or Ed since T. was born. It was fun, but I missed my babies.

What did he say about the matted hair?

I have a Persian with horribly matted hair. The groomer said it would cost me $80 to have the cat shaved, although it isn't clear to me that this is a medical necessity.

I look forward to reading more Harry stories.

The matted hair wouldn't be so bad (though I imagine it would be uncomfortable so close to the skin & pulling the hair) except that there are nasty sharp pricker things tangled up in the mats. We can't seem to cut them off without nicking the skin, but the vet cut off a couple. They told Ed that they would shave off the other big mats when they have Harry anesthetized for neutering.
