Rotten Day Haiku

Today was not stellar. I retreated to my computer when I thought my head would explode, and there was a haiku thread on my favorite homeschooling board (when homeschooling isn't going well in real life, it is often comforting to read about other people's problems. Sometimes their children are even more impossible than mine.) The following is my day in haiku:

Oh my darling son,
You are so darned pigheaded.
Math may kill us both.

I pray for patience;
I want to be calm, gentle.
My kids see me fail.

Mostly t.v. stinks.
Kids should play, read, mess around.
Today the box rocks.

You mean that adorable, laughing little boy is pigheaded? Say it ain't so!! He hides it well in that awesome photo!
If it will make you feel any better (you know misery loves company and all that), we have about 500 of our 600 "dear" teenagers who have turned pigheaded! And some of those have been wonderful students for three years but decided that it was okay to "check out" this, their senior year!

It is sad but true. It is lucky for him that he is also sweet and cute.
You do make me feel a bit better. 50% of my students are fairly cooperative (though K's schedule could hardly be less taxing).

I think that's why God made the little ones to have such large eyes - it gives them a bit of protection a'la the "cute, defenseless little critter" card.

{{{hugs}}} (I know, does you no good now, after the fact, but it's been quite a week.)
