Good Friday

We went up to church today at noon for the Good Friday service. It was beautiful. Sad, but beautiful. The priest sang "Sing, my tongue, the glorious battle" in plainchant.

I have told the children that when they have finished this week's assignments they will be on their "spring break," which will actually be one week of Macbeth practice and one week of no school at all. You would think by the way they moan for holidays that this would be a motivating offer and that they would have gotten busily to work with a yum yum yum, but you would be wrong. I think that secretly, in their warped little hearts, they like spending their days sitting at the school table tossing pencils and having me harp on at them.
