Yesterday was Ed's birthday! I didn't forget to celebrate it, just to post a bloggy "happy birthday." Actually, Katie took care of the baking, and the kids and my parents gave him presents. I cooked a dinner he likes -- does that count?
Travis and Katie pooled their money and bought him a Tracfone (a cell phone). We had thought we could get by without a cell phone, and we could, but having the phone seems to reduce errand running, and with the cost of gas... Katie wanted the present to be a Real surprise, and was upset when her brother let the cat out of the bag (Travis is a terrible secret keeper), so we took the phone out of the box and replaced it with a Kit Kat. After Ed was surprised, Katie quickly handed him the wrapped phone, so he wouldn't have time to be disappointed!
And here the children are reciting The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost. I keep telling them that they should try to look interested (or, at least, not bored senseless) while the other is speaking. Maybe watching themselves on the video will help!
