Joy, Even Without Doughnuts!

Lessons went much better today. We finished almost everything (what a time-saver Not doing math is! But I suppose we Do have to start on it next week.) at a fairly civilized hour, and with very little grouching. Actually, Katie spent much of the day working very happily on her project on Wilbur Wright! I can't say that Travis was enthusiastic about anything, but he kept at it steadily, which counts for a lot in my books.

One of his assignments was to read "The Ransom of Red Chief" and define all the unfamiliar words, and I had to laugh when he complained, part way through, that it had "obviously been adapted" for our literature program, because no one would use all those big words unless they were planning a vocabulary exercise! I told him that O'Henry just had a very good vocabulary (better than mine -- "philoprogenitive" stumped me too!).

And a Facebook friend pointed out a free Latin class which is starting this week, and it uses Wheelock's 7th edition, which I have, so I signed up! I am very excited. The class covers one chapter every two weeks, which might, possibly, be slow enough for me. Maybe. Hope springs eternal, anyway!

Do you have a link for the Latin class? I'd love to do this with Andy in a year or two and I could maybe do it if I took this class. I hope your year keeps going so well. I hope ours gets off to such a great start (Monday is D-day here).
