Googlicious!

Travis says that today is Google's 14th birthday. They are practically twins! He thought we should bake Google a cake, but I pointed out that we have no cake mix, and also my birthday is coming up and we'll have a cake then. However, I told him that we could have a Happy-Birthday-to-Google-Rice-Pudding! (This would have been more noble of me if I hadn't already had the rice pudding, made to use left-over rice, in the oven. Still!)

Happy 14th, Google!

Travis also says I should post the recipe. He says that if I posted recipes and put AdSense on my blog we would make lots of money! (Obviously he doesn't read the blog, or he'd notice that my readers are few and non-interactive. I think he's sweet!) But still, here is the rice pudding recipe. It is really the Joy of Cooking recipe, only I'm more decisive about things like the proper number of eggs, how much sugar, etc. These things shouldn't be left to chance!
Rice Pudding
2 c cooked rice
1 1/3 c milk
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 Tbl butter, softened
1 (generous) tsp vanilla
3 large eggs
1/2 tsp grated lemon rind
1 tsp lemon juice
1/3 c raisins

Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients together well. I think my pan is about 2 qt, but any pan that fits will work -- the pudding doesn't really rise significantly. Anyway, grease the pan with Crisco and coat with graham cracker (or any sort of cookie) crumbs. Bake until set -- between 40-50 min. Ed says this is best plain, but I like it with maple syrup drizzled over, and Travis sprinkles sugar on top.

And here is the card..... (this is why we have a white board, right?)

And now off to walk! I have Peter Brown's Through the Eye of a Needle: Wealth, the Fall of Rome, and the Making of Christianity in the West, 350-550  AD on my Sansa Fuze now, and it is an excellent walking book (it requires a situation with No distractions).

It is very easy. I'm not a huge fan, but Ed loves the stuff and Travis likes it and Katie Doesn't eat it. So I make a lot of rice pudding!
