Spring Flowers (and pollen!)

Travis and I skipped school this morning and went for a hike with my parents instead. It was lovely! Cool and (except for some rowdy songbirds) quiet. And just so green!

We were feeling pretty peppy, so we took the 4.5 mile loop trail for a change.

My mom. Nothing like reaching the summit and finding your sweet mom sitting there waiting for you (she is a fast walker!) with cookies! She really is a queen among mothers.

This picture below shows why it was well that Katie did not accompany us. Those billows of yellow above the trees in the middle? Not dust. Pollen! Clouds and billowing clouds of pine tree pollen.

Here Travis is kicking the pine branches to set off more pollen! Like the trees need help here.

Looking across the waterfall. It boggles my mind that some people look at this and think that walking across on the (obviously) slippery rocks is a good idea.

Really?

And there were so many beautiful little wild flowers!
A dwarf crested iris....

and then a whole herd of them!

Aren't they just the sweetest things?

And a gaywing. Isn't that a perfect color?

Foam flowers...

and a jack-in-the-pulpit!

We got in lots of talking and silliness, as well as admiring flowers, and it was a wonderful hike!
