Despite North Carolina putting on its prettiest spring face, all pleasant temperatures, blue skies, and blooming flowers, my parents headed back up to Maine today. They are looking forward to spending time with their Maine gardens and friends. We reminded them of the swarms of hungry black flies who are undoubtedly also looking forward to the reunion, but they would not be dissuaded.

(Aren't their irises just fabulous? And the peonies are just starting to bloom. Looks like I'll have cut flowers for my table for a little while!)
