Aside from that fact that I spent most of the day longing for a nap,
today was absolutely lovely. My cinnamon rolls, which I almost forgot about and then made at the last minute, were delicious, and everyone was very happy with their gifts. K. greeted every gift with squeals of delight and and exclamations of, "I've been wanting one of these for years!" T., who had really hoped Santa would bring him a Wii (I had warned him that they are very difficult to come by and that it was highly unlikely) was happy with the Nintendo DS Lite that Santa brought him instead. K. was thrilled with the wooden stable that her Granny and Paba sent, and her new Ken and Barbies have moved right in and made themselves at home. She also
was very taken with her new EasyBake Oven, which is a toy that I always wanted as a kid and never got because, as my mom said, "Our oven works perfectly well." We've baked a teeny tiny cake in it already, and a teeny tiny pizza, and both turned out fine, but I've got to admit that you were right, Mom -- it is a very silly thing.
T.'s surprise present for me (he picked it and bought it with his own money and was so excited) turned out to be a fleecy light blue sweatshirt, which I've been wearing all day. He is such a sweetie -- he was so happy that I loved his gift.
Ed spent a lot of the day sleeping on the couch, pretending to be watching t.v., but he now has recovered enough to take over helping K. roller skate around the house on her new skates. T. got a skateboard & K. got roller skates, but it rained all day, so outside play wasn't an option. T. got a beautiful Chinese checkers set from my parents, and we had fun with our first game. (K. joined us for the second game, and she is not inhibited by rules about moving only to adjacent spaces. Being the prim little rule follower that I am, I find her free spirited approach somewhat frustrating.)

It has been a very nice day, but I'm ready to head for bed with our stack of new books. T. has promised to let me read his new Calvin & Hobbes books!
