My Baby's First (Professional) Haircut

K. has been wanting a shorter haircut (she found the cut she wanted on the cover of Family Fun magazine), and, breaking with longstanding family tradition, she wanted a Professional cut, not a mom cut. Today we needed to go into town to visit the library and to buy milk, and Ed said that today could be the Big Day. It took three tries to find a good salon (one was busy, the next was filled with cigarette smoke), but the last place was clean and nice, with a wonderful young hairdresser with time on her hands. K. loved every moment of her hair washing, cut, and styling, and at a cost of $10, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Making the visit just completely perfect, the salon had a water cooler, and T. bought his sister a chocolate bar to celebrate the occasion (the occasion of the hair cut, that is, not the water cooler). K. told all the ladies at the library about her new hair, and has been bouncing around all evening, happy as a clam. I guess all those inches were really weighing her down.

What an adorable haircut! K. really knew what she wanted and what would look (and feel) good! And what a sweet older brother T. is to help her celebrate!

That is a wonderful haircut. What a wonderful way to spend part of the day. For me, it's moments like this that make me realize how quick they grow up.

Great taste! You can't go wrong with a good bob.

She looks super.

Thank you all! I didn't know she needed a haircut, but now I can see what a good idea it was. I think the new cut is more flattering than very long hair, and it is certainly easier to brush!

Oh, that's a delightful haircut on her! And what a special experience, too. I wish we could find a little place like that. (T is such a sweet big brother - I love that he bought her a chocolate to mark the occasion.)
