Snow Day

When I woke up this morning, Ed said, "Look out the window." Travis hasn't gotten up with such alacrity since Christmas morning.

There was much throwing of snowballs.

The public school was closed (apparently NC bus drivers don't do snow, and I agree with them completely), so we had the park and ball field across the street to ourselves. Katie made some really big snowballs, and a couple large but grubby looking snow people. And I was beginning to think that those sleds would never be anything but water boards. There were a couple of big boys playing with snow boards, and Travis thought they were pretty cool. The kids caught on very quickly. Katie was especially good at finding good slopes and hanging on, laughing all the way down. Travis tended to roll over (with great drama, gloves flying off in all directions), but when he managed to stay on he slid a remarkable distance across the ball field. I think his greater weight gave him the advantage there.Harry doesn't say it outright, but you just know he thinks we are dumber than dirt to go out in that freezing cold wet stuff. Cats know everything.

Oh, what a treat! It looks like a good time was had by all! I know that's a hackneyed phrase, but it does nontheless.

I so enjoy watching kids enjoy winter! They never complain about snow.
