Katie's reading is coming along very nicely.
Harry Potter is still quite a stretch for her, really. There are a lot of words that she can't read, and she is still skipping lines of text without seeming to notice (Travis did this too at her age, so I'm not worried.), but she wants to read Harry enough that she read quite a few pages before putting in a bookmark and going back to listening to him on tape.
And speaking of enthusiasm and ambition, Katie picked our next poem to memorize for book group -- The Tiger, by Blake -- and read it aloud (with some help) over and over this evening with marvelous expression. Her only reservation about it is that the children in each family recite their poems together at book group and she doesn't think Travis will do her poem justice. She says he can have a couple stanzas in the middle, but she wants the best ones!
